This is the second time that Sen. Bob Menendez has been indicted for corruption. He needs to resign and allow Gov. Murphy to fill that vacancy with someone who does right by the people of New Jersey.

See how easy that is to say, GOP?

Why the hell was he re-elected? Vetting canidates, even powerful ones, is not the parties strong suit.

Because Hudson County, where Menendez is from, is historically a hotbed of crooked politics, cronyism, and patriarchy. Sad to say but the Democrats who choose the nominees wanted to hang on to the established person in power instead of getting the best candidate for Senate and the people of New Jers

This is exposing a stark difference between Democrats & Republicans. I don't hear any Democrats screaming "witch hunt" & demanding the prosecutor be fired.

But since he's innocent until proven guilty under #Republican standards he can continue to serve & even run for re-election if convicted . . .

If NJ is a state that can make appointments, then yes…
If not then the appropriate thing would be to wait for the grand jury to indict and put a replacement run in November to replace him

I think Senate appointments can be made in virtually every state although exactly how differs. It's House vacancies that require a special election.

The election is next year. I'm sure there are at least a few Democrats who would be up for challenging him and would get plenty of support. Heck, the simplest choice would be Murphy himself.
