controlled by other parties they are pushing through their own different but equally populist policies, creating and amplifying division, and creating an ever larger group who feel politically disenfranchised.

Pay some attention to those other elections. They matter. The UK changing its government

to one less right wing (and hopefully less populist) will impact how some in the US think; that new government will certainly not welcome nor be positive towards a Trump administration; that new government will certainly not be signing any trade deals that favour circumventing UK standards, harm UK

farming or allow US private health companies more access to the NHS.

That reduces the motivation of some of the amoral rich that have backed Trump, probably enough that they stop backing him, knowing as they do, that he's an idiot who shouldn't be in charge of anything let alone a country.

So remember, other elections matter. Seek to positively influence those as well; while there are few people in the west in power or with a realistic chance of gaining power quite as bad as Trump, those right wing populists in power or that gain power have been supporting the same sort of policies,

favoured identity groups without regard of their impact on others just creates antagonism and the very real risk of them returning to power. Remember liberal isn't a dirty word, but it does mean accepting others, even when you disagree with them, even when you fundamentally disagree with them.
