I didn't know the Capital of the Confederacy moved from Alabama to Virginia. The landmark buildings are still in Montgomery.

If you ever visit Richmond or Gettysburg, you'll learn about the Confederate's capital relocation. The Confederate Army strategized to encircle DC, make Lincoln and the Union leaders surrender, and then move all govt operations down the road to Richmond. The move was also symbolic for other reasons.
