As long as I live, I will never forgive Eli Lilly for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make CEOs obscenely rich.

I'll never forgive Republicans for making healthcare a for-profit business. Profiting off of people's health or lack thereof is sickening.

Our entire healthcare system is a big, fat, mess. Check this out from More Perfect Union. I thought the insulin super-gouging was horrible, this takes the cake: https://youtu.be/frr4wuvAB...

I am reminded Jonas Salk gave his patent for the polio vaccine away. He never made a dime from it

I have to wonder just how many people died because they were rationing their insulin due to the prohibitive costs.

What people should do is, those who have portfolios or investments, scrutinize deeply what they own, I'm sure many who feel the same, own these same companies in their savings. Dump them. I did this for most who support GOP. It takes time but it's worth it. Especially if you own individual shares.

This is what happens in a country with a FOR PROFIT healthcare system.
It only works for the PROFITEERS.

I'm and ED RN and I couldn't agree more. I cannot count the number of patients that I have seen in the Emergency Department due to inability to afford their insulin. Some of them due to trying to stretch it further. It doesn't stop at insulin either.

I just bought Lantus (glargine) insulin made by Sanofi-Aventis, not Eli Lily, and it was $472 with a discount at my local pharmacy.

Epinephrine is also a life saving medication that only costs a few dollars to manufacture but costs $600+ . It's for profit healthcare and it's outrageous.

Same with Jonas Salk, who invented the first polio vaccine.
