I would like to remind people that accounts spouting in different languages is a wonderful thing for the platform.
If you don't know what's being said, Google Translate is your friend.
It is extremely disheartening to see large accounts scream "BOT" every time non-English spouts show up.

Same for me re: following.
I’m a snoopy snoop so I’ll always find a way to translate.

i haven’t really trusted google translate since i entered “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose,” and it came back with, “what goes around, comes around.” which might be literally correct, but fails to appreciate the idiomatic menacing meaning of the translation.

In response to Steve Lang.
Well that’s not even literally correct 😂
Generally speaking, it is good enough to get the gist of what someone is saying.
The implication that an account was making was that foreign accounts were nefarious. And they were spouting things like “how do you change the timezone”. Foolish person.

It's not correct at all! That translation doesn't appear to understand either idiom.

I'm on the Android App and all I have to do is select the text and Translate comes up as an option along with "copy", etc. Screenshot attached.
If you're using a desktop version you can also copy and paste into Google translate in any browser.

Also Englisch is my fourth language, and although I try my utmost to be clear and direct in my communication, there is a lot of misunderstandings that occur on social media in general. We must learn to be more patient as well one another.

It is not only different languages, but global perspectives. Yesterday I tried to talk about racial discrimination that people from ethnic Balkan communities experience and there was someone who took a very American approach against me. I really hope that spoutible become more international.

Yes! We have to broaden our horizons! And if we can’t travel to foreign places a platform like this can be the next best thing!

You're so right!
I am a French speaking Canadian, mostly posting in English.
But, being labelled as a bot would make me leave this wonderful platform.
So, observing and we'll see...
Je vous souhaite une très belle fin de semaine... 🤗🌻

Foreign languages are interesting. Using English with mistakes English speakers wouldn’t make makes me suspect the account, especially if they aren’t pretending to be Americans or British or Canadians. Even then, I take a closer look before condemning.

I never really understood the making fun of people who make mistakes in another language. Generally speaking, the person making the error speaks multiple languages which is a flex.

Highlight the text, and it should offer Translate in the popup menu. At least, on Android. Maybe with the Google Translate app installed, too.

Bonjour à tous!
I like seeing different languages on here too. I hope Spoutible will expand internationally! It’s very nice to have perspectives from a variety of countries.

I like when I show up here, in the morning, and "ich" is in the cloud. Makes me know that our German friends have been busy, while I'm sleeping.

One of my favorite things when out getting groceries was trying to see how many different languages I'd hear. When I grew up on PEI it was so damn monolithic. Moved back years later to find lots of different cultures and languages had moved in. Was very cool :)

Smiths Falls has that monolithic cultural feel to it though. The grocery stores don't even have decent world cuisine sections.

Yup. The more international (outside North America), Spoutible🐳 becomes, the better.
Plus "English only" is an ugly look no matter who you think you are.
