Today I learned that after no fault divorce was legalized in 1970, female suicide rates dropped 20%🤯

The "strong 1950s family unit" that GOP is nostalgic about ignores record high female suicide, suffocating domestic violence, & zero female financial autonomy

But maybe that's GOP's goal?

They aspire to be the new lords of the manor, always have. They hate reminders on how short they will always come of the goal.

They have found another way to kill women:

I am sure it’s the goal. The GOP believes in lots of government interference in everyone’s lives to force people to adopt their views. Freedom party my arse!

Of course it is. To them, women are "things" to be possessed, showcased when attractive, and traded off when their beauty or novelty fades. Men like that deserve to be alone.

Of course that's their goal. Along with killing all the Mexicans and Jews, forcing queer people back in the closet (or into mental hospitals or suicide), putting Black people back in chains, and finally fulfilling "Manifest Destiny" by annexing Mexico and Canada by force.

That was exactly the thrust. Women en masse were depressed bc they had gained some independence during the war and then got trapped back into housekeepers.

It was female enslavement.
Until 1974 (FL) a man's wife was his property.... just like a cow or a horse. And he was free to treat that property any way he wanted to.
The fact that the patriarchy, that STILL believes women exist to benefit & be USED by men, is clueless speaks volumes.

Both were sign of women getting increasing rights.

I'm sure both contributed but the right to choose likely has more influence.

Which does not bode well for the future.

Oh they're very related. Forced to carry a baby you don't want, with a man who abuses you....of course women would be desperate.

another thing my friends and i have noticed -- we look younger than our moms did at our age. no scientific study, but we attribute it to being able to work towards "self-actualization" rather than being stuck in a role and a relationship with no secure way out. Powerlessness is an awful thing.

I am the age my mother was when she died - 60. Yes she had cancer in her last year but before that, she looked so much older.
Of course, a lot of people smoked like chimneys in the old days.

And yet 53% of white women are still voting Republican all the while seeing the real consequences playing out for them. Can't get lifesaving medical care, can't even get their prescriptions like methotrexate for arthritis because "abortion."

Black women tried to tell them.

The patriarchy continues to GROOM women into believing the princess/knight in shining armor fairytale BS. And men are kicking & screaming (and committing mass murders) when women reject that grooming & refuse to fck them.
