Bring this to your tables.

Indigenous peoples have observed the National Day of Mourning instead of Thanksgiving since 1970. This day honors Native ancestors and gives space to mourn the massacres that took place. It's also a protest against the racism and injustice Native Americans suffer today.

We are reading this book at our house today, speaks to the Native people’s struggle. I had gotten it weeks ago, then it was featured on NPR’s Living on Earth last week:

Colonizers were thankful for the number of indigenous people they massacred, wrapped it in religion, and sold it to Americans as a day of celebration. Only in America. I mourn with my Native brothers and sisters today.
