I just love this idea. In my job, I dealt with the public which gave me a chance to interact more with our patrons, & the learning process of it opened so many avenues of understanding. This is a start, but I only fear it'll mostly reach those willingly open-minded, but miss those who need it most.

It’s interesting to me as a hairstylist how many if the life stories I get to hear.
I’ve been doing hair for decades, and I have to say this is one if the best benefits.

The passing down of stories is as old as time. Some of my best times growing up were listening to my 90 year old grandmother who lived through the implementation of electricity, the car et.al. tell stories. Miss those times dearly.

Yes, we just had a Human Library in Ft Collins, Colorado last weekend at our museum. It was an incredible experience. We had 25 'books" and around 200 readers.

Many of the books had stories about Black or LBGTQ experience. I'd like to add that this would be an incredibly valuable activity in Middle and High Schools. I was surprised to hear from my child that they hear homophobic and racist slurs in the hallway and this is a so-called "liberal" community.

My old job doing staff work for an adult degree completion program was a lot like this. I guess I'm a good listener, because people were really candid, when we were doing interviews as part of recruiting. It was one of the best things about the job.
