They may be fighting facists, but to say they were fight white supremacy is a little bit ridiculous when the entire army was still segregated.

Politics, including geopolitics, is full of inherent contradictions. I appreciate Garance's (Arletty) line in Les Enfants du Paradis «C'est tellement simple, l’amour!» ... but of course, it isn’t simple for the men who love her, because THEY bring their complications into the politics of love.
