You are lucky. A relative lives in a small town where an Albertsons and a Kroger subsidiary are the only grocery options, unless one counts Walmart. The merger would not work well for them.

I live in a small town but I’m lucky, I have a car and I can drive to more affordable markets. We have an employee owned market called Winco near me and I will at times buy in bulk at Costco.
