Absolutely. It is a way to get healthier food to kids who need it. Some schools provide breakfast too.

If school is compulsory for children, then the entity that requires school should be required to feed all children. Anyone who has have ever taught knows that hungry kids struggle to learn.

Yes. Today only families getting SNAP benefits qualify for free school lunches in many places. But we were working poor and didn't qualify. It wasn't always easy to scrape up enough for sandwiches and lunch "stuff" week in and week out. Sometimes dinner for us was ramen and hot dogs. Or pancakes.

I support free school lunch for all kids, period. Chicago Public Schools provide free breakfast and lunch to all students, and I'm fully supportive of that.

For number of years, all schools (early childhood through high school) in my district provided breakfast and lunch to all students (some got supper in a specific afterschool program). The neighboring district only provided it to students whose families could prove need (based on fed guidelines). /1

/2 ... Once the logistics were worked out, it was a better system for all around - the families who didn't have to be embarrassed to apply during open registration and the administration who cut down on their paperwork. It also saved all the families money and time in the long run.

Absolutely! Free breakfast and lunch for all children. Maybe a poll would be good for this?

I support it for all, need or not. Growing up, my mom made “too much” for us to qualify for free/reduced lunch. But, she always struggled to pay all the bills AND put food on the table.

I support free school lunches. They all need it. Just give them all free lunch and stop creating ways in which kids can stratify by class.

I also support free breakfasts, child tax credits as well as supplemental child care vouchers or something equal so parents can have the opportunity to go back to work if they choose to do so.

Absolutely! The stigma of poverty should be disassociated from lunch programs because of the simple fact that we all need to eat. Free school lunches should be accessible to all students. Taxpayers are funding district supervisors as much as 6 figures, but then we can’t afford to feed hungry kids??
