Fish guy rushed over. He said he thinks the problem is the fish were shocked to death. What he means is, yesterday the glass was thicker with algae. It was more than usual. So he had to scrap the glass and he drain out a fair amount of algae water and replaced it with fresh water.

He thinks he may have removed a little too much old water and added a little too much new, throwing off the entire chemistry of the tank thus making it uninhabitable for the fish. So he killed them. But he did it doing his job and walking the fine line of algae cleaning and fresh water.

He bought us four new fish, including a pleco who's an algae eater. They don't eat it all but they help to maintain it so that hopefully there will never be another situation where they have to drain too much of the tank. He said in a few days he'd bring some bigger colorful fish to add pizzazz.
