I remember struggling to pay for my kids' lunches when we were barely over income for assistance. Even if you want to blame that inability on me or my ex-wife, you know whose fault it WASN'T? The kids'. There is no moral reason to oppose this bill. https://www.mprnews.org/st...

In theory, I'm all for consequences, free markets, letting folks deal with the repercussions of their choices. "(In theory" is doing a lot of heaving lifting here!) But the idea that kids somehow chose their parents or their zip code has always struck me as a recipe for bad policy.

Agreed. And in general with policies like this, if we have to err on one side over another, I say let's err on the side that helps someone who may not need or deserve it, instead of ignoring a child's actual needs.
