Why is it always “if you can’t pay rent, buy fewer lattes and avocado toasts” and not “if you can’t pay your employees a living wage, buy fewer yachts and real estate”?

A business that cannot pay its employees a living wage is a failed business.

But I really need that third house with the 8 car garage for my collection of vintage Ferraris for which I get a tax break because they’re historic!

I will never understand the “step on others to get ahead” mentality… can’t we agree that lifting others up is more conducive to a progressive society?

Well being retired now, I make my own avocado toast and lattes lol. But yes, if you can’t spend it in your lifetime, why do you need it?

And the demands for a tip have gotten out of hand!! Tipping keeps employers from paying a fair wage. When I was in Italy, one restaurant had a message in the menu that they paid their staff a living wage so tipping was not necessary

Hopefully they can get around to quadrupling the tax on stock buybacks for executives. That would put them in their place.

Alyssa Quart has a new book coming out about this topic.

If you can’t wait till March, her book Squeezed covers this material as well.

Alyssa worked with the late (great) Barbara Ehrenreich.

So true! And all that criticism is coming from people who obtained their "wealth" illegally and/or had their mom and dad gave them everything they have. It's so sad how the poor are treated.🤦🏾‍♀️
