Before there was Berry Gordy and Motown, there was Vivian Carter and Vee-Jay Records. Vivian and her husband, James, started Vee-Jay in 1953. It was the 1st successful Black-owned record label. Their roster included Little Richard, The Staple Singers, and The Four Seasons. #WomensHistoryMonth
