History of America's treatment of Black people

1619-1865: Enslavement

1865-1965: Jim Crow, Red lining, lynching, & no reparations

1965-2020: Mass incarceration, war on drugs, & still no reparations

2021-Now: What slavery? What systemic racism? It's a felony to read such books

here's what's interesting about this to me...

looking at it from a historic POV and say, a timeline, we are only about 160 years past the dismantling of SLAVERY, but much the mecha of white supremacy has remained intact.

armies were defeated but, philosophically, were are still in a civil war.

Yep.

As I often say, the Civil War never ended. The armed conflict ended but the war became a cold war that continues to this day.

If a few more white nationalist party state legislatures become supermajorities, they’ll be able to call a Constitutional Convention to attempt to codify that inhumanity into federal law.

Well, certainly a significant part of the experience of Americans of African Ancestry. But no summary of accomplishments, strengths & successes despite those systems of oppression. Let’s include more to the story that speaks to the equal significance of our heritage- an indomitable will to suceed!

William Wilberforce:
The death rate is appalling: 12.5% die in the Atlantic crossing; 4.5% more die of disease on shore before they are sold. "Upon the whole, however, here is a mortality of about 50 per cent"
