Given that 90 percent in any given hive are female, are the workers and stay busy...this tracks. 🐝

Absolutely fascinating and nothing I would have expected. I incorrectly assumed worker bees reacted solely, and entirely, on the interaction between hive mind intelligence and environmental cues. I try not to kill bees, realizing their critical role as pollinators, this starkly changes that belief!

100% agreed. Yellowjackets are I'll manored, over territorial assholes. I don't classify yellowjackets in the same way as honey and bumblebees. I don't get stung bu by honey bees or bumblebees, ever, but fight with yellow jackets every year. I get stung by yellowjackets every year, almost never bees

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing!
"It argues that bees can demonstrate sophisticated emotions resembling optimism, frustration, playfulness and fear, traits more commonly associated with mammals."

I discovered another one of those bee sanctuaries along the river, supposedly attracting bees only I never seen any bees near them?

All life is sacred.

Glass, bamboo, steel containers are so much more friendly to the environment.

I've always tried to capture bees that make it into the house and take them outside as well. Which is a little challenging since I'm highly allergic to bee stings! 😬
but do love our little bee helpers!

I'm not allergic but I do try to escort them out an open door or window. I hesitate to jar them and piss them off.

I get it, we must respect nature. Bees and other insects are essential for life as we know it, but I’m sorry… you can’t use sentient and primitive consciousness on the same sentence. I’m going to ask the anthropologist in the family what they think about this one.

Good point, that's a bit equivocal there. But it's a thought-provoking article that is definitely worth a read.
