JUST PUBBED. Hey Spouters, here's an examination of Tucker Carlson's long strange journey from self-declared crusading journalist to right-wing demagogue and promoter of conspiracy theories and racist notions. Was it all one big con? Please read/share my latest.

No. He has always been this way - he just felt that prior to coming to Fox that he couldn't say the quiet parts out loud in order to succeed in cable news.

David, did you see the Nicole Wallace interview with Abby Grossberg, one of Tucker's former producers?

One of the claims she made was that Tucker told Republicans that if they did not follow his lead that he would turn on them.

Did you see any evidence of this? Do you know of any other righ

And that the Russian propaganda platform RT immediately offered Tucker a job.

Tax cuts, foreign policy, deficits, and deregulation, all Republican talking points, blew up in their faces during the Bush years. All Republicans had left was conspiracy theories and culture wars to stay relevant . Carlson knew this and embraced it.

And the Democratic party doesn't use social issues to get their voters to ignore their pro corporate anti-worker actions? Just because the Democratic social issues/goals are admirable doesn't mean they're not being weaponized the same way Republicans do it.

Whether it was a con/act or not, he holds a large amount of the responsibility for the rise in white supremacy in our country.

Bill Kristol also tried to give us Tom Cotton, however, humanizing him proved futile.

“When I ask people who worked with and knew Carlson well what happened to him, mostly I get shrugs and puzzled looks. How did this fellow who professed to be an honest broker of truth become a racist demagogue and promoter of far-right disinformation and dangerous conspiracy theories?”

The simplest answer also is most likely the correct one: He was always that way. Working for Fox just emboldened him to be more open about it.

Frankly, after yesterday's celebration, I rather would never again hear from or about the guy. One can wish. Of course with such a liar it has got to be a con.
