If you have offspring 16-17, I encourage you to STRONGLY encourage them to practice writing their name as a signature, like 3-5 times DAILY.
My kiddo + pals reached legal / voting age w/o a set sig.
Kiddo’s 1st ballot got kicked b/c signatures on voter card + ballot not a match!

Good advice. I was still learning and perfecting my signature well into high school.

Both my nieces graduated high school without being able to write a signature legibly. They spent their time designing their “autograph”. 🤦🏼♀️

wow! it's bad enough when your signature changes slightly through the years annnd are they still teaching cursive? i guess if they have their way they'll stop teaching reading and writing in school and we'll have to search for elders who remember, smh

There’s more than can fit in a day now.
More kids in classroom, more history, more skills.
I remember being shocking (in a good way) when kiddo’s social studies class had a modules on assessing sources + misinformation/disinfo as well as digital safety & privacy. Wish we’d all had that!

And I'm sure that decision was made by trained hand writing analysis experts who put plenty of time into comparing the fine details of the signatures⸮

as an old woman with rheumatoid arthritis, centered in my hands, I can attest that this matching signature stuff is just so much bullshit. I can't write the same way two times in a row in the same sitting.

In my state, they now use electronic signatures for drivers licenses and voting. The results, using the electronic device and pen, never actually match my handwritten signature.

Ugh, this is how the GOP is going to limit gen z voters. They don't even teach cursive in school anymore from what I have heard.

Contest it by presenting proof of some kind to the Election Judge or Secretary of State.

We are lucky to be in WA state who bends over backwards (!) to promote + support voting / voting rights.
Kiddo received notice that signatures didn’t match up well enough to allow ballot to be counted outright, but gave reasonable method + timeframe (and encouragement!) to “cure” ballot to count.

Oh yes! I remember when my daughter went for her drivers license & needed to do the signature & was a bit flummoxed. The person at registry said it happens more often than we realize. One of those things to add to essential life skill list ❤️🌀

Excellent information! As I have gotten older and my hand a bit stiffer my signature has changed. I try to match my drivers license when doing my mail in ballot so there won’t be a problem. I even “practice “ first on another piece of paper before I sign the ballot.

Summer session at the Youth Facility, I always asked the residents what they would like to learn. For 4 summers I taught cursive to Jr High & High school students because they wanted to have a signature. I also registered the 18 y/olds to vote.

Great advice! I had issues after neck surgery changed my signature. I was able to clear it up, but it could deter 1st time voters, we absolutely can't have that. I'm going to share this advice on other platforms if you don't mind❤

On another note. Occasionally update your signature with your bank or other important accounts that require them. I had to replace a debit card once bc it was stolen, and the bank asked me to forge my own signature to match the one they had on file from 20 years prior.
