Growing up in Vermont and then going to college in New Mexico, I took for granted the clear black sky. Living in NJ for decades, it's almost impossible to find any, anymore. Makes owning a telescope seem pointless.

I live in the suburbs of a big metro area—Bortle class 6. I have several smaller telescopes and a few pairs of binoculars. And still there are the neighbors' exterior lights.
