#BirdoftheDay #114 I believe a male American Robin hunkered down in some grass. Robins are the largest N American thrush, other birds in the family Turdidae are Thrushes, Bluebirds, Veerys, and Solitaires.

An American Robin laying down in some grass and lit from the setting sun to the left of the frame. The grass has quite a few empty flower stalks sticking up which are a light tan to light brown. The Robin’s body is facing directly toward the viewer it is looking to the right of the frame so it is three quarters visible. The beak is straw yellow, that leads to the black head that is streaked with white under the beak. There is an uneven white eye ring around the black eye. The chest is a rust color the tail feathers are black as well and directly behind the head almost making it look like a crown of feathers. The side not in shadow is a dark gray.
