Katherine Johnson - what an idol!

She was in high school by the age of 10. In 1961, she calculated the trajectory of NASA's first trip into space. She was so consistently accurate; when NASA began to use computers, they had her check the calculations to ensure they were correct.

She is one of my idols. I got into STEM because of her. I was a nerdy kid.

We were never taught about this, not even at University where I majored in Science Education.

The first I knew about it was in the movie "Hidden Figures" and it is a consistent fave of mine. I love the movie but am so angry that the history was hidden!

I completely agree Dawn! I know about Katherine as she worked with my husband’s uncle at NASA. Without knowing my husband, I would have not known about Katherine until the movie either!

I agree! She’s one person I’ve always adored. I find her fascinating. The work she has done and the changes she enforced to tackle equality in her work environment is beyond anything! She’s an incredible woman!
