Allow me to address the elephant in the room: the only one who would benefit directly if the U.S. defaults on its debt is Vladimir Putin. — Now the GOP’s behavior suddenly makes sense, doesn’t it?

The thing I find so odd about Americans behaviour in this is, you give them a Hollywood movie with a plot line as clearly mapped out as what is occurring and they will rave about it.
Tell them it is a Real Whole assed plot to destroy the USA? They want to know if shit is on sale at the fav. Walmart…

Thank you! Yes, they are there as saboteurs. They want to hurt their constituents, make their lives harder, & blame it on the Dems. They run up the debt, pass massive tax cuts to the wealthy, & refuse to pay. Then they try to make poor & middle class citizens suffer. Rise and repeat, since Reagan.

Yes. I really think the issue is a divining rod to determine which fascist puppeteer a GOP politician serves; Putin or the Libertarian super donors (Koch & cronies). The latter is not as keen on defaulting. Trump just came out on side of defaulting, revealing Putin to be his master. Shocker, huh? 🙄

Also socialist Europe & communist China…Gold would benefit too. The GOP seems to comprehend & like gold. (I wonder how many confuse it with Australia…) Here's hoping McCarthy has enough rational Republican votes & POTUS' concessions don't haunt him in 2024. Woe be the party that tanks our economy.🧐

They see polling saying Americans will blame Biden more than them, so they're actively trying to default, so they have something besides attacking trans kids for an issue to run in the election. I never believed that they wouldn't try to default, the GQP will benefit electorally from it vs Biden.

No, Europe wouldn't benefit. Our economy is tied in way too much with that of the US - if you guys go down, so do we. Besides, I'm not sure how often this needs to be said, Europe is not socialist...
China might benefit, but too much of their funds are invested in US national debt.

Agreed. Furthermore, a US debt default would also give Republicans election leverage in 2024, cuz of course they would hang it on Joe.

And here I was thinking you were going to help differentiate between all of the "elephants" running for the GOP nomination T-rump, DeSanatize-dis & even perhaps, born again, Chris Christie a veritable Circus show act now in performing acosss the US.. But of course they all seem to love aiding Putin.
