My Slovak grandmothers "shisky & dill omacka"...simple boiled dumpling smothered in a in a tangy dill gravy. Also served with tomato, horseradish, or cucumber omacka, but dill is my favorite.

Dill gravy: 1/2c water, 1/2 pt sour cream, 2 Tbsp vinegar, 2 Tbsp roux, 2 Tbsp chopped fresh/froze dill shoots, salt. Boil water, dill, roux, vinegar & salt; add sour cream. Stir while adding. "Cook a minute more." (Thick & heated thru.) Serve over dumplings. Salt estimate~1 tsp.

Shisky: 1c.flour, 1.5 tsp bkg pwd, 1 tsp salt, 1 egg + enough water to hold together (stiff). Divide into 3 balls. Place in boiling water. Boil 10-15 mins. I take 1 out sooner & cut it to see if the inside is cooked or not. Adjust time. Length of boil depends on size of the raw ball of dough.
