The notion those areas would be dead & uninhabitable for thousands years was rather inaccurate. Plant life and animal life has reestablished in a matter of decades quite resiliently, still not a good idea for humans to stay for extended periods but the outcomes were nowhere near severe as predicted

Hmmm! I'm not sure they're completely forgotten, but you don't seem to hear a whole lot about Three Mile Island or Chernobyl anymore, and I wonder sometimes what world-wide energy policy would look like if not for these two calamities.

The health affects from TMI we’re never catalogued except for private entities. The health impacts were and remain devastating.

Like I said the impacts were not as bad on nature as were feared but still not a great idea to hang out there very long if you are a human maybe another couple hundred years and radiation levels will be more manageable for extended periods for humans.
