The GOP doesn't want to fix #SocialSecurity .
IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE FIXED.

They want to loot it for the donor class leaving the rest to age poor and die under their heel.

You already paid in.
This is wage theft writ large. A century long heist. #DontMessWithSocialSecurity

Every election matters.

First, remove it from the general fund.
Second, stop “borrowing” money from it to pay debts.
Third, repay all the money borrowed. Funds can come from the military budget and the salaries of those who approved this lending.

It needs to be...EXPANDED.

For example, how about paying SS benefits to parents of kid up til age 21, not til 18?

We NEED to quit saying "You already paid in". #Republicans use that logic to convince their voters that ending #SocialSecurity now only screws FUTURE generations. We need them to know they paid for people who were retired while they worked and not a PENNY is currently reserved for them.

Fucking jackals.
dems need to keep them on the ropes with this. Keep repeating it. Keep posting the videos of them saying it. Keep sharing their written words. Constantly.

I think it's also just one part of a long-term strategy to undermine popular trust in government and promote privatization as a response.
The people who denounce the "deep state" prefer a shallow state that would be too weak to regulate private businesses or enforce the tax code.

Here's how I'd fix Social Security:
- Lift the income cap that limits contributions from
high-wage earners
- Stop taxing the benefits retirees and the disabled receive

FWIW - It was Reagan, during his first term who started taxes Social Security benefits. He did it so he could give a tax cut to the wealthy. Prior to his presidency it was not taxed. Yet another thing we can blame him for.

Steve I disagree, it does need some fixes. Ok, enhancements if you’d prefer. Eliminate income cap for starters. Second, I would prohibit pre age 65 distributions (hardship exceptions).

It really chaps my ass when I have not heard one journalist ask Republicans that if they abolish SS, will everyone who has paid in get their money back...WITH INTEREST? Certainly they don't believe that we the people would allow them to just steal all that money and not riot in the streets?

Hell, they need to put money back into SS that they raided to pay for the 2 wars in the Middle East and their tax cuts.

Following their usual playbook, they are holding language hostage (entitlement) in order to turn people against something that belongs to us…

Every time I hear GOP up in arms about Social Security and what we can afford,
I think back on all the per worker productivity gains we've made.
Where is THAT in the calculation? Buried in the growing out of control wealth gap, perhaps?
And how much productivity inno was financed with our taxes?
