Stop worshipping billionaires.

Elon Musk threw away tens of billions of dollars to buy Twitter, and has spent the last year running it into the ground.

When billionaires take control of our most vital platforms for communication, it’s not a win for free speech.

It’s a win for oligarchy.

Truth. You will never convince me that running it into the ground wasn’t his intention in first place. Someone backed this effort. We need to be looking at who those folks are. I think this is part of the attack on democracy going on around the world.

Not really a win in this instance. Makes the oligarchs look like the idiots they are.

This. All day long.

The mass accumulation of wealth relies on the exploitation of people, animals, and the environment.

Imagine how much different the country would be if billionaire's wealth was dispersed into the general population .. better wages, more home owners, less fascism.

Billionaires and shareholders own all social media platforms. What is your solution? I love Spoutible but eventually it will need to make money - either private or public shares.

From its inception when has American communication not been controlled by a cabal of wealthy White men?

$44B is cheap if you're aiming to buy the entire country.

Elon didn’t even want to buy it, but his ego wrote a check that his ass had to cash.

He thought he knew better, but it turns out that he’s not really that smart.

Most people that actually change the world for the better scientists, doctors, teachers, etc can barely make a living and are mostly unknown.
We are rewarding the wrong people.

I'm going to keep spouting my opinion that the current state of Twitter is precisely what Musk bought it to do. He took a powerful marketplace of voices he didn't like and closed our mouths.

I must admit I agree with your view and would go one further. I think he’s actually being bankrolled to do exactly what you describe. He’s just the ‘front man’ or ‘fall guy’ whichever way you want to look at it.

I have often thought this too. But even though it has been a powerful info sharing platform you can only get a temporary win from killing it, as platforms and communities build around its collapse, which was predictable. And he has lost control. So puzzling.

To be honest, we have all needed to leave for a while. Maybe this is the push needed.

He has absolutely no ideas about how normal, ordinary people interact; nor what made Twitter the most popular site.
Genius?
Sure, whatever.
