Caught drinking from my mother's water glass while we were elsewhere in the house this morning! (You can even see the cat's little tongue in this photo.) My mom laughed when I showed her this pic. (Yes, I gave her a clean glass and fresh water afterwards!!)

Deep #Fall includes temps low enough to freeze small ponds. By now, deciduous trees have shed most of their leaves, making us wonder if the vibrant colors of mere weeks ago have flown south with the migrating birds. We enter a period of waiting...for the advent of many things...

A small pond shows the beginning of ice on its surface. It is surrounded by the dull tan of dead cattails and the remnants of other summer weeds, also brown now as they slumber until Spring. The remainder of the scene includes a ringed guard of leafless trees behind a smattering of evergreens that overlook the pond. The water and the sky are gray as if they, too, want to slumber until Spring.

Many years ago, our family began celebrating #Thanksgiving on the day AFTER, to give a break to those who had more than one house to visit each year. Also, I took over cooking the family's Thnxgvg meal (although I am NOT a good cook).

And THAT is the true origin of " #Black Friday "...
