The Golden Gate Bridge opens on May 27th, 1937, after four years of construction. It connects San Francisco and Marin County. About 200,000 people walk across the 4,200-feet-long suspension bridge to celebrate its opening. It opens to vehicles on May 28th, 1937. #OnThisDay

In response to Chris Reid.
If all goes as planned, I'll get to see it in person in July. I went to California once when I was a kid (well before digital photography and smartphones), but we didn't see much outside of the amusement parks. I don't remember a lot either. This will be my second trip ever, about 36 years later.
