After her beit din and mikvah, Kiddo delayed her introduction to her congregation untill I could get the time off work to be present. At services last night, she was introduced and her Jewish name announced. I was fine until she was handed Torah scrolls and sang the Shema. Moved to Mom Tears...

Last weekend met up w/Kiddo and SIL for a family picnic. It became apparent we were being watched by some critters in the adjacent woods. Long story short, the critters were captured, caged, and taken home by Kiddo. Vet screening/tests complete; all healthy. Meet Moriarty (calico) & Moran (orangey).

@nyankoframe , I want you to know I've held you in the Light every day since you shared the news of Harper's passing. In general, I'm a less-is-more kind of person; grand sweeping gestures don't happen. But as you work your way through your grief, please know you are not, and have never been, alone.

I've had a couple of highly UNproductive weeks in the garden while recovering from a back injury. Did some basic weeding and planted four perennials today with no ill effects. That bodes well for this weekend; I should be able to get back on track. #gardening

That Justice Jackson's recognition of inequity of opportunity, of realizing livelihood and quality of life, needs to be said in *dissent* roars thunderously loud.

We all need some self care; viewing Wings' pieces is a start, and if you are able, buying/wearing is a gift to yourself (or others) too. #NotAPaidPromotion

#gardening as defined by Fitbit: less than 7000 steps for the day, but 324 zone minutes, with about 1/2 being cardio/peak....and no exercise rating for the day.😄

My absolute favorite Geranium; nothing else comes close. Hits a lot of my favorite characteristics: blue flower ✔; hardy ✔; self seeds w/o being invasive ✔; old enough to be an *actual* "proven winner" rather than a marketing ploy ✔. Meet Geranium pratense 'Mrs. Kendall Clark.' #gardening

My daughter went to her Beit Din today; after several Covid-delayed years, her conversion to Judaism is official. We had her baptized when young and raised her in the United Methodist Church. I truly believe that the path she has chosen is consistent with her baptismal vows and am beyond delighted.

Went to the farm where I used to work and picked up an overwintered 2G Ratibida pinnata; an overwintered 1G Rudbeckia tomentosa; and three 1.5G Achillea 'Firefly Peach Sky.' AND it's raining today...I feel like I've won the lottery. #gardening #perennials #nativeplants #PureMichigan

When I get home from work today, I will be planting 5 perennials. Sounds minor, but after 4 years of reclaiming/renovating my gardens, they'll be the first new plants going in. I'd plant more, but we haven't had rain in weeks and none is on the horizon. So I'm now intentionally going slow.
06:29 AM - Jun 05, 2023
I've been spending just about every free moment working in my gardens...four years of renovation, and the end is finally in sight. But. It looks like we're reentering the drought we clawed out of thanks to a very wet winter. It has me rethinking how much I want to plant now vs waiting until fall.

Downloaded Myth America: Historians Take On the Biggest Legenda and Lies About Our Past (ed. Kevin Kruse and Julian E Zelizer). I don't read nearly as much as I want these days, because my workday is all screen time; home time=downtime. But I miss reading history, so this essay format should work.

I bought a case of beet juice, because my BP is trending in the wrong direction. I haven't yet been able to open a single bottle; the lids are on way too darn tight. You'd think someone would have realized that creating extra frustration is not good for anyone's blood pressure.🥴

Was dropping the F bomb liberally at work today. It was mostly performative (coworkers and PTB don't expect little old ladies to be fluent in Cuss), but I needed to be heard. The work overload is scaring new hires into considering quitting; they need to reconsider how they roll out "improvements."

Made it through Work Software Update Day #1 . Tomorrow, two of our least experienced, least tech savvy employees are patient-facing, I'm approaching the boss to see if she'll put me with them. It's likely to be a clusterf*k otherwise. I don't really know more; I'm just less prone to meltdowns.
