I hate waking up to an alarm on the weekend, but glad I made it out to Union Bay Natural Area this morning. Thanks Birds Connect Seattle for leading the walk. Lots of red-winged black birds and herons. Even caught woods ducks (in a place you wouldn't expect). #wildlife #birding #photography

The last few weeks have been rough. So, I haven’t posted much. First, there was a loss in my wife’s family and a bittersweet return to Chicago. Then I was waylaid by a nasty stomach bug. I’m finally feeling better and working to get through all the projects from 2023 that I haven’t finished.

The wife and I went out to Union Bay Natural Area last weekend for the Bird Connect outing, but misread the date 🙄. It was rainy and muddy, but we decided to continue onward. We caught a heron hunting in Yesler Swamp. Photos to follow. #Seattle # PNW #birdwatching

When the high temp is 25f, why not take a 2 hours stroll through Union Bay Natural Area. In spite of the cold, the mountain was out as well as the bald eagles. This pair was hanging out directly over the path before flying into the bay. #Seattle #Wawx #PNW

I’ve made it through the work year thankfully. It’s been rough since June and particularly difficult since September. I was so worn down that I had to cancel some trips. Missed out on a new moon at Mt Rainer and what would have been my first backpacking trip in Caroline zone of the enchantments.

Part 2 of the milky way timelapse from Monday at Cape Blanco. I used my widest lens to get the waves and ships in frame. You can notice the shift to blue/cooler tones which I believe is due to the moon rising out of the frame. #oregoncoast #pnw #ontheroad #astrophotography
