I had been excitedly telling people about Spoutible since I pre-registered as soon as the idea was launched. But this is embarrassing. Not only is the policy wrong, but these responses lack a certain kind of calm steadiness at the wheel that a site like this would need to mature and survive. ☹️

Definitely agree - this ended up being a thread and I mentioned that later. I think it's ok as long as there is transparency for each book.

But I am really thinking about what comes after the initial HEA. What about when the love of your life develops a chronic illness? Can't handle being a parent? Needs to live somewhere else for work and you're bad at distance? Doesn't handle aging well? Romance could use more of this kind of reality.

What's most important in this situation is transparency. I think readers have the right to know what they are getting themselves into when they start a book. Bramble needs to clearly label which books end which way, or romance readers who just want a happy break will be (rightfully) upset. 3/
