I have worked with librarians in schools for many years as a tech facilitator and in my estimation they tried their best to provide books in which students could see themselves. The recent book banning hysteria imo is out of step with reality. @jenniferlagarde

People are so encouraged that Michigan has turned blue. But it didn't turn blue, it's just that voting became fair because we had a non-partisan commission who got rid of gerrymandering. It wasn't easy, but they did it in our state is flourishing now!
