Today is just a perfect fall day, so I took my friends’ Basset hound Ezra for a nice walk (he was getting bored hanging out in their bookstore). We did a couple of km., he sniffed a lot of leaves and tried to chase a squirrel. After that I bought myself a cinnamon bun for my tea, because why not?

Went for a long walk with my friend and her dog this afternoon. Beautiful fall day, leaves turning and we saw 2 redheaded woodpeckers!

This rose is a symbol of resilience to me. I have had it for 20 years; over time it has struggled with black spot and dwindled to a single stem. Every time I think it has seen its final bloom it produces just one more perfect rose, so I keep it in hopes of just one more. The fragrance is amazing.

I saw this at a framing store today . It’s cross stitched, and they had just stretched it onto the frame. I don’t know who made it, so I can’t give credit, but it’s one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen. Very inspiring! #crossstitch

And for dessert: peaches baked in ginger-mint syrup and topped with full fat yogurt. Yum. #cooking

I love it when I throw a bunch of ingredients together and it creates something delicious. Chicken baked with onion, carrots, potato, peppers, olives, herbs and tomato sauce. So good! #cooking

Lunch: toasted tomato and Basil sandwich. The tomatoes and Basil were picked from the plants on my patio just moments before landing on the bread. Delicious. #Food

Just spent the past 5 days ( minus Friday, which I spent being sick with maybe food poisoning) at a horse show with friends and their fabulous young horse. He was wonderful, tried his best and won his training level division! Lots of work, lots of fun, lots of nice folks, great show! Tired now.

It’s raining here and it feels wonderful. I think it’s the first rainy day we have had since mid June. A great day to spend sipping my coffee and reading the new book. I’m only in the first chapter but it’s really fascinating. I’ve always loved history. #books

OH NO! Gardening disaster! My tomatoes succumbed to gravity and toppled off the ledge. Took me ages to clean it up. Saved 2 plants and lots of green tomatoes. Got soaked in the rain but that actually felt good.
How it started, how it ended #gardening

My friend and coworker made me a chocolate cake with stars to celebrate my birthday (I was off on the actual day, but it’s never late for cake!) My coworkers are the best.🥳

I bought myself some delicious Sushi for lunch, from the Sushi restaurant just up the street. One of the things I most like about my neighbourhood is the fact that most things I need are in walking distance!

Things that made me happy today: a visit to the Library where I found 2 books to read, my cat insisting he needs snuggles, a cup of tea on the patio, my container garden thriving and yay! I got my tax return. It’s a good day in the neighbourhood. Some pics of my little garden:

I discovered this picture of my maternal grandfather and his two sisters awhile ago. I love that one of the sisters bears a striking resemblance to my own sister. #FamilyTrees

And now for something pretty to start your day - I saw this dragonfly resting on the lavender on my patio, and it hung around to have its picture taken.

The Swallowtail butterfly came back to visit the Lobelia today and yesterday I saw a hummingbird checking out the rose on the balcony. 🥰

Proud to report that our young horse won the championship in his training level division at the Dressage show on Sunday. The weather was awful, very stormy, but he was really good. Great start to his Dressage career! Totally worth all the effort.

In these troubled times it’s good to find the beauty that still exists. This lovely butterfly came to visit as I sat on the patio enjoying my coffee.

First strawberries of the season. I can’t decide if I’m more excited for these, or for the new peas I also got today! FYI, that’s yogurt not cream (full fat yogurt I admit).😎

I brought this book to work (in CCU today) to read on my break. I had to explain to my coworker why I was crying. It hit pretty close to home today, as my patient’s family are dealing with very sad news. You should read this book. #books

Felt the need for some tranquil time so I walked down to the local park where I sat in the shade and marvelled at how many shades of green there are. Watched people play with their dogs, and just tried to be in the moment. Kind of worked to slow the brain hamster wheel.
