Hanging out with the Gaza Ceasefire encampment at the University of Rochester. It’s very chill. Also chilly.

My housemates brought home five boxes of Nilla wafers from work. I thought I might make the recipe for a banana pudding on the side of the box. Then I realized that I wanted someone to make it for me.

My husband brought home two poppyseed hamantaschen last night and because of my osteoporosis, I thought I’d look up the calcium content, and man, I ate about 35% of my calcium needs for the day. It’s also chock full of protein. So if you want a cookie, you know what to reach for.

Marcha was a paper that supported the military junta that overthrew the democratically-elected government of Uruguay.

Some food choices in Santiago Chile; I do not know why I thought a juice made of sugarcane and lime would taste better than I imagined, but it tasted exactly as I imagined.

We ate at a Cantonese-Venezuelan fusion restaurant last night in Santiago. Among the offerings were ham and cheese egg rolls. This trip has taught us how very wide the Venezuelan diaspora is.

The last thing on my bucket list before leaving Argentina was drinking mate. Here is Michael’s friend Tuti from Tel Aviv University and kibbutz days teaching me how to do it.

In Uruguay and Argentina, they put warning labels on junk food the way we put warning labels on cigarettes and alcohol in the United States. These labels warn people that the products contain excessive fat, excessive saturated fat, excessive sodium, and excessive calories.

I have now worn my wedding hairdo for a week. I have slept on it and shampooed it and put some hand cream on it to take care of the strays. I do wish I had tried this when I was younger and had more hair.

We have a piece of burlap in our bathroom that we attach mostly political pens to. I move them around sometimes for fun. I was looking at one regarding a warmonger in the White House, and realized that it applied to almost every president in my lifetime, with perhaps the exception of Jimmy Carter.

howled in a way, I have never heard a human being howl and I’ve never heard since.
