So anyway I guess yeah I'll write one terrible story about a thing I care about and see how that goes. I'll let y'all know on a scale of 1 to "your brain is melting" how it is. That is SO not getting done today so I'll just say by the end of July. I got a lot going on and only large ideas.

I know that I can write good stories but to me, they're all bad. Sometimes they're "not nauseating" or "kinda acceptable" but far below the ridiculous and frankly Slaaneshian level of perfection that I have set for myself. I have people who will tell me if I have a bad story and why it's bad.

Hahaha I haven't seen Pin since I was a kid but I liked it. Creeped me out proper. I've seen it listed as a bad movie a number of times which doesn't bother me because I love em, but it could very well be good. Bloodbath is fun. I have two words for you "mole scene" Oh my lord.

in their lives. It sounds silly but in today's age of battling against toxic masculinity, I have a warm place in my heart for that day when those boys cried and none of them was ashamed to cry or hug each other. We shared a few video game and even movie moments like that, and I'm glad, because

sobbing together. I think a lot of that influence came from my stepdad. He married my mom and dealt with three severely abused stepkids. Then one was murdered. He isn't afraid of crying or being vulnerable, and he passed that on to a lot of my friends' sons, who maybe didn't have such a figure

Maybe I am too weak for this world. If I were stronger or better or something I could do more. What's a few bottles of water and a plate of food compared to the weight of not having a roof over one's head? What's a sandwich or a hug compared to being treated less than human? It's scary to think that somehow we will never fix this, and that instead, forever, we'll always have this crapsack world. I can't even feel good that at least I have a home and groceries, because I can go right outside a few yards and find people who don't. And I have so little to give them.

I just don't understand how things can be this way. It doesn't make sense how it's somehow okay to let people starve, suffer harm, lose their homes, even lose their lives, all so that someone else can have more something. It feels like we live in a horror movie. I feel so hopeless and desolate.

Saw a tweet about a man whose workplace knew there was covid and sent him anyway and his wife ended up in the icy and then when they sued the court was like "I mean morally the plaintiff is correct but if we rule for this guy we will be harming business". Really? What kind of world is this?

If it were me I'd just keep going with the new idea as if it wasn't even a thing. Though a) I am lying. I am a horrible perfectionist and I hate everything I write. And b) I am an editor so I encourage writers to get it out and then work out all the kinks in revision.

You're right about all of this. And it really IS disheartening to see so much effort being put into fighting policy that would lift everyone up. I don't understand why there's so much pushback against progressive ideas except that they're not designed around punishing people for...needing help?
