I found these right outside my door. Drosera pygmaea a carnivorous plant native to Australia & #NewZealand . Tiny rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves with sticky tentacles are used to capture bugs. Leaves are often reddish & the flowers are yellow or white. #NZFlora #CarnivorousPlant

Apparently #Hippeastrum (commmonly called #Amaryllis ) grows really well in the North Island of #NewZealand . These natives of S America are perennials here. These are growing in a hell strip in front of a hotel. #Bulbs #Flowers #Garden

The China or Annual Aster (Callistephus chinensis) flowering here in #NewZealand Native to China & Korea. I always wanted to grow this back in Texas but could never keep it alive. They apparently love the cooler temps here in NZ. #Asteraceae #Annuals #Garden

It took my wife a minute to tiptoe out there without stepping on any flowers and there was a cold, biting wind... but totally worth it! #California #Poppies #Lancaster #Bloom #color #colour

This photo was taken three years ago today. My young son was with me at the time and said, "COVID-19 can't stop the flowers from blooming."

I know it seems silly, but that statement was beautiful to me. Simple and direct. In a way, a message of hope.

Never underestimate the power of simplicity

It's going to a good year for my Hill Country Penstemon. Blooms are just beginning to open and there are at least 8 bloom stalks. Scientific name is Penstemon triflorus and it's are real hummingbird magnet. #gardening #nativeplants #CentralTexas #horticulture #Hummingbirds

It's autumn here and the Amaryllis belladonna have started to flower. Native to Cape Province in South Africa, but commonly grown across the world. Flowers appear in the autumn with no leaves, thus the common name of Naked Ladies or Naked Lady Lily. #NZGarden #gardening #flowers

This is Wild Radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) the ancestor of the edible form. A native of western Asia, Europe and parts of Northern Africa, but a weed here in NZ and the rest of the world. Still quite edible though. #Brassicaceae #NZWeeds #Weeds
