How interesting.

For retailers to say, "It's inflation, we don't have any control of this stuff!" and then start selectively not gouging on some select products is kind of telling. McDonalds is trying something similar.
Nancy @nann
Target said Monday it plans to slash the price of bread, coffee, diapers and thousands of other everyday items this summer, joining other retailers looking to kickstart business by catering to inflation-weary consumers.

I didn't take my steroidal anti-inflammatory med yesterday morning because I'd run out. I've been feeling better the last couple of months and I sometimes wonder if I still need that drug or if it's time to stop taking it. The way I felt by 5 pm yesterday made it clear: I still need it.

Want less clickbait? Stop reading and sharing it. You think Newsweek cares you say the article sucked? No. They care that you read and shared it. #SayNoToClickbait
Karen Springer @Springer
They keep writing those stories because people keep reading and sharing them. Those publications don't know or care if you are sharing it because you think it sucks. People share clickbait here ALL the time. "Look how awful this is!!" doesn't translate to the people who put out the clickbait.

Tonight I’m at the Mabel Tainter theater in Menomonie to see Arsenic and old Lace. It’s another gorgeous old theatre.

I've recently discovered the music of Philip Glass. I'm really enjoying Einstein on the Beach. It helps the work day go by more pleasantly. #spoutingmusic

I’m at the Sheldon Theatre tonight in Red Wing to see Buckets and Tap Shoes. It’s a beautiful old venue. I hadn’t been here before.

I feel amazingly good today. This is after spending the last two days outside and driving in sunny weather. I can only assume this must have replenished my vitamin D. The difference is startling. I always physically feel better in the spring, but wow. Winter half kills me.

Eclipse viewing was a success. I traveled to southern Illinois to see it. I'm in Peoria tonight, have another 7 hours or so tomorrow to get home. I think driving most of three days to see the eclipse for a little less than 4 minutes might be excessive, but I don't get many adventures in my life.

After driving most of the day in the rain, sunlight and this double rainbow was a nice change. Then I drove back into the rain again.

The person who was going to look in on my cat while I was out of town didn't do it. Fortunately it was a short trip and I'd left her plenty of food.

Home now from Minicon, a local science fiction convention. I had a nice time, though that was largely due to hanging out with my brother and sister-in-law. But there was also some fun programming.

I'm watching a recording of an old Broadway production of Camelot, for research purposes. It's ... not enjoyable to me. But as someone who used to do historical costuming, I am especially cringing at 1982 Broadway's idea of medieval garb.

I've got a stack of library books and some scripts to read for play selection committee, but all I want to do with my evenings right now is watch TV and play Stardew Valley. Reading material with deadlines feels stressful to me at the moment. This is probably related to depression somehow.

Book completed: Mammoths at the Gates by Nghi Vo. Fourth in the Singing Hills cycle, I had read the first in the series but not the ones in between. I loved the talking birds who remember everything. Very enjoyable, and I will definitely track down books 2 and 3.

Book finished: Driving the Deep by Suzanne Palmer. I started this last summer and only just finished it. Even though I trusted the author that it would turn out all right, the situation was so claustrophobic that it stressed me out and I had to make myself continue. It was worth it in the end.

This morning I'm reading more details about what happened with the Hugo Award ballot manipulations by the organizers. So senseless. Most English-speaking fans seem focused on the exclusion of certain authors, but to me the lack of Chinese works was a huge red flag.
