the only reason for government to leave the ECHR is because it wants to pass laws in breach of it. Doesn’t that prove that we cannot trust our government always to respect human rights?

In case you haven't seen it already.
Those with the greatest incentive to invest in politics are the dirtiest and most anti social companies because if they don't they'll be regulated out of existence.

"Perhaps [the tories] most defining characteristic is an aggressive, bullying & dogmatic obstinacy which assumes that they are entitled to control our affairs without the slightest recognition of the expertise of others.” The much lamented John Smith.

And they're worse that ever now.

As with any nationalised industry the Conservatives are ideologically opposed to the very existence of the NHS, and they seek to undermine it whenever in power. This is in spite of the overwhelming support the service has among the people that the tories are supposedly elected to represent.

We haven’t lost 10 grand a year per household through laziness at work but because politicians from Thatcher onwards smashed up trade unions, undermined labour rights, and crowed over the result as a “flexible labour market".

Most enjoyable quote of the last 24 hours.

Time to ban government conducting business on WhatsApp. We let them try it, they abused it.
It's Tory Catnip; with no record or oversight, we've had shady covid contracts, Johnson being Johnson, lost phones - the Caroline Watt North Sea defence.
This is why we can't let them have nice things.
