I would love to have some ready-to-go, non-confrontational rejoinders for when I hear stuff like this. I know a lot of the facts that disprove this (though they're really dealing in feelings, not facts), but I can so rarely deploy them in an effective way.

Still kind of flummoxed by sharing links here. Looks like links with no preview image get cut off and I'm not sure if other people seeing such posts are able to access what I'm trying to share. Any thoughts?

Still figuring things out here...any idea why links in my earlier responses get cut off and don't show a content preview?

Hopefully that normalcy rating thing will do its job and it'll be easier to avoid.

Currently dealing with a self-described "enlightened" person challenging my library's (very minimal, sadly) observation of Black History Month "because shouldn't we celebrate AMERICAN history?!" And using Morgan Freeman as a token to make his point. 😖😬

oo, good question! The old sci-fi stuff predates my project, of course, but I'm getting into Dracula and Werewolf by Night territory now. I don't feel drawn to them, tbh, but I know some of them hie close to the superhero side sometimes. I'll prob sample issues that tie in the most & skip the rest

The classic Stan Lee/John Romita run, especially from about issue 50 of Amazing Spider-Man through issue 80 or so, might be worth a look! Lots of big colorful adventures. Just be careful to stop at or skip 88-90, which feature the death of a supporting character. Might be tough for the kiddo.
