I think the road to the 2008 financial crisis was a lot more complicated than that, but certainly repealing Glass-Steagal played a role. Whatever the history might be, since 2008 Dems have tried to re-regulate, and Rs have tried to gut regulation. Not trying to defend Ds generally, pretty corrupt 2.

This article is focused on We The Investors, our grassroots advocacy campaign of individual investors. That being said, The Terminal is a platform for individual investors, so yes I think you could consider it mom and pop.

I don't know. I'm generally a fan of decentralization, but so far Bluesky and Mastodon don't feel like twitter replacements. I think it'll take some time to see if the benefits of decentralization overcome the difficulty in interacting with it.

Here's a FUN FACT about Virtu. They are pretty much the ONLY firm opposed to smaller quote/trade increments. Want to know why? Because in Europe, where they have smaller tick sizes, Virtu can't compete.

Maybe they care less about market quality and more about their P&L.

His testimony leads with equity market structure reforms - they're front and center. I think we'll hear a lot about them and crypto today. It'd be easier if members of Congress were forced to wear the logos of their donors though, so you know where the questions come from.

The scale of what the SEC does is pretty significant, easy to lose sight of it.

This part in the intro to his testimony hits home pretty hard - sounds like he's talking about exactly what he's dealing with right now as Wall St does everything in its power to obstruct important changes and regulatory updates.
