Almost everything that I've tried to grow has died, whether it was because of the envirnment or my ineptitude.

I was able to grow rosemary, briefly. I think the bush sneered at my ham-handed attempts to kill it inadvertently.

Pineapple - here in Florida you just cut the top off of a a grocery store pineapple. Then stick it in the ground and ignore it for 2 years and then you’ll have another delicious pineapple.

We plant a dozen varieties every year (we keep the seeds from a few of the flower heads) , the super dark ones are my favourite!

Knowledge is the beginning, and can't be underestimated. But courage gives us the ability to take knowledge, to understand, and make change. Courage lets us stand up for those that cannot defend themselves.

It is a hard road to walk, but I have never walked it alone.

As a city boy, the only thing I can cultivate is concrete. But if I had the ability to encourage things to grow...

I would grow a courage tree. Its fruit would inspire, enrage, and enable change, and lead the questor to their mentor. That is the burden and privilege of striving.

I second this. Thrive on low light and neglect. Fertilize and put in a window and they'll take the house over. Cuttings take like nobody's business.

Golden Creeping Sedum. I'm having to thin it, move it, put it in pots. One of the few ornamental plants already growing on this land when I bought it. It really likes the sandy soil. I've been here 25 years and it's an old reliable go-to.

I like to pick the fruit of the taco tree. The grafted one is best with it's many taco varieties. The fragrant leaves that smell like cilantro perfume the night air. #SpoutAbout #growing #gardens #tacos

#Spoutabout #Gardens Yes, orchids but also Lithops. They are fascinating, the last time I had a successful one it got attacked by birds, more than once. Like, why? It was tiny, there were bird baths for water, what was the point?

A3: Oddly enough, Asters, which are native to Ontario and grow wild around my area in abundance. I gathered hundreds of seeds from wildflowers nearby and followed online guides to grow seedlings from them, yet not a single seed germinated.

I had a farm of it for therapeutic reasons (juiced it). I should really start doing that again. Maybe barley grass this time. I just need the energy to get going! Which (not so) ironically might come if I do!

We have a tiny back yard, but grow yellow and black raspberries, red currants, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, tomatoes and figs. The cherry was supposedly a dwarf tree but it has totally outgrown its spot. If we don’t get any cherries this year, we may say bye bye to the tree.

More orchid advice. 😍

My mother had beautiful orchids in her bedroom. There were sheers and curtains on her windows because she said orchids didn't like direct sunlight. She defused it with the sheers.

Easiest would have to be wild geraniums
They tolerate sun or shade, spread readily in neat clumps, the foliage is fragrant and the flowers are bright
Plus the roots stay on the top of the soil so they are easy to move and share
Prep the area you want them with a rake and then put them down 😊

Orchid advice! 😍 #SpoutAbout #Growing #Gardens
Linda Eisenstein @LindaEisenstein
Mom always said that orchids need company. She'd keep 3 or 4 of them near each other, and when one started to bloom, often the others did, too.

She also said "they don't like getting their feet wet" and would put an ice cube near their roots instead of watering.
