I love the idea, the energy, the experience of Spoutible, but I haven’t found a community of music educators/academics here, yet.

Is that because there’s only a few of us here? Or am I looking in the wrong spaces/places?

Hello! I’m a composer and music-thinker!

thread 6 Threaded Spouts
Part of my work as a composer in the education space is to interrogate the ways privilege is reinforced, dismantled, or reconceptualised through sound.

This may sound fanciful or far-fetched.

But music is perhaps the most insidious of colonialising control mechanisms.

It is such a joy to see piano keyboard knitting where all the keys are accurately represented!

Very excited to be talking about a repertoire-rich approach [aka "the 40 Piece Challenge"] with music educators from Spain on the weekend - all from the airconditioned comfort of my Sydney home!

Todays nap time Muzak for the doggos has been the lovely new Brad Mehldau album of Beatles material (plus a lovely Bowie finisher). It’s soothing and not as predictable as one might assume.. finding lovely moments in between the familiar melodies. #JazzPiano

I'm incredibly excited to have this opportunity, on this new abd more intentional platform, to remake those connections, and to find myself making even more.

The most exciting thing about social media, for me, back 15 years or so ago, was connecting with others who were working to revolutionise and transform education, music education, piano teaching, and music theory.

That hasn't changed.
