Hellooooo!
I'm a geologist and science journalist, currently working for NASA and Yale Climate Connections. My favorite thing right now is making data-based graphics about energy and/or climate science.

Happy to see all the other cool science-folk here! 🌎

The winner is... South Dakota!
83% renewable!
54% wind + 29% hydro
SD more than tripled wind generation in just 2 years. Impressive!

See an interactive version of the map below, with stats for all 50 states. https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2023/02/us-state-with-most-renewable-energy-produc

Delaware generates 2% of it's electricity from renewables. They may import renewables from other states, though.

Delaware has access to offshore wind, so they have a solid way to improve.

Texas is an excellent guess!
Texas generates the largest amount of renewable energy, but at the same time, they burn a whole lotta gas and coal, which together account for 64% of their electricity.
So it's not Texas.
