So that conversation was a while ago and now it's 40 years of Hayek. The University of Chicago was a center for the Hayek view (as espoused by Milton Friedman). A republican congresswoman recently ended her speaking time with a reference to Friedman and his Nobel Prize to support her argument.

Of course you can usually find "saltwater" Nobel laureates such as Joe Stieglitz or Paul Krugman who will disagree with the "freshwater" viewpoint.
