I need my fellow spouters to answer a question for me. I have a friend that opened a new spoutible account today. When he tried to see his followers, it asked for his ph #. I was in the 1st wave so i can't recall all the steps. Did he not have to give his ph# to create the account?

The phone number is/was to verify identity. It also is useful for MFA. The security aspect of the number reduces the bad/threat actors ability to create multiple accounts to spam.

Thank you. That's what I thought. It was verifying that the same person who created the account is now using it. Thanks again.

I gave my pH no. when I created the account, strange he's being asked for that info to see his followers. I hope it gets fixed, the traffic is quite high atm so maybe its just technical issue. GL

OK, if that is the case, them asking for his phone number again in order to "see his followers" , I wonder if that is a glitch with everything that is happening or is that for security reasons to make sure he is the same person that opened the account.
