My experience is that the #FFG #StarWars (also #Genesys ) narrative dice create both a narrative and collaborative atmosphere at the table (compared to a traditional d20 system). In d20 conflict resolution (social or combat), players quickly identify the number they need to hit on their roll.

But, with the narrative dice, you read them to figure out each roll, and the results can affect that player and everyone else. So everyone is invested and watching and prompted to make suggestions on what the threat or advantage (or Triumph or Despair!) might mean. The whole table is in it.

So, after a few rolls in the party, everyone knows "I need a 14 to hit" and look eagerly at the roll result each time. But it's a binary succeed or fail, and most other players are not involved. So, the player rolls, looks and says "I hit" or "I miss" and this goes round the table.
