I’m from the U.K.. I don’t think it’s ever been part of the childhood routine vaccinations. I only became aware of the (privately accessible) vaccine with my 2nd child, 7 years ago.

It's because they're worried about giving adults shingles. It seems ridiculous to me to risk kids' health for adults health, particularly when there now is a shingles vaccine.

and it sounds like "The powers that be" are reconsidering as well. Mayhaps the chickenpox outbreaks in immuno-compromised children is a problem.

But getting chickenpox is a precursor to getting shingles. Plus chickenpox sucks if you don't get it very young (I was 16 + it was really bad).
