Just turned 3, my girl suddenly started with one-syllable word stuttering. It's devastating her. "Mommy, my words are broken," and, "Mommy, my talking not working." Anyone have suggestions on how to help her with her discouragement as we work through it?

as someone who grew up with a stutter, what i wished people would do for me would be letting my stutter through then trying to help me with techniques (deep breath, stretching, etc), reassuring that i can make it thru blocks, and just encouraging while not interrupting

I appreciate this perspective. I'm trying very hard to communicate the very recommendations you've made. I think it's one of those things where I just feel like I'm never doing enough because my girl is hurting...

Likely not directly relevant, but does she have favourite rhyming book (eg Hairy Mclary series)?

If you read them aloud slowly, she might be able to join in and rebuild that fluency, as it scaffolds what she DOES know but can't express just at present?
