I sincerely wish a lot of people would retire the "follow back" mindset. Yes, if you want people to follow you, that's fine, and it's usually going to be because you're writing or sharing things they want to see in their timeline.

That does not mean they even care about you following back. I would say most of us who migrated from other sites followed many accounts that did not follow back. We had other reasons to follow.

Erego, not everyone has a goal of ever-increasing followers. Social media has two parts; some are more social, other are more media. Just remember that not everyone who doesn't spout a ton (or at all) is a bot, nor are they necessarily trying to get you to follow back.

Basically, I'm suggesting that if you don't want to follow back, don't, of course! If they're looking for followers, they're going to spout. But if they aren't, and they are simply following accounts that interest them, that can be fine, too. IMO
